There is a lovely serene luxury oasis just at the edge of the wonderment that is Varanasi India. The Taj Nadesar Palace offers a tranquil sanctuary at the end of
a busy day exploring the winding corridors of this ancient spiritual city and the beauty of the Ganges River.

The Taj hotels in India are usually much larger hotels, but the Nadesar Palace is
a smaller more intimate hotel that offers luxurious individual service that makes
it so special. The ten luxury rooms and suites are named after the royalty and celebrities that have stayed here when it was a private home owned by Maharaja Prabhu Narain Singh during his rule in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. During our visit we stayed in the King of Bhutan’s room with access to a very large terrace looking over the gardens. The Nadesar Palace’s original name apparently came from the goddess Nadesari, whose shrine is at the front of the palace. 

The individual suites are all unique and are each decorated with original pieces
of furniture and colour schemes that depict the offerings made to the Ganges
River from lotus flowers, marigolds and jasmine colour pallets. The bathrooms
are extremely luxurious with large footed tubs and walk in marble showers.
Many pieces of art that adorn the walls of the hotel are from the original
collection of the Maharaja.

The hotel has been opened for just a year and has a beautiful new luxury Spa “Jiva”. They offer extensive Indian wellness signature treatments in a first class setting. The Majaraja and Maharani were married in this part of the palace. The appeal is definitely the history that is attached to this smaller boutique luxury arm of the Taj hotel chain. It maintains this history while providing a beautiful first class luxury experience.

We were fortunate to have a number of meals at the Nadesar also, each one unique and of the highest quality and originality, served on the picturesque terrace over looking the pool.

If you plan to visit one of the very oldest living cities of the world, the Taj Nadesar Palace hotel is an incredibly special experience and one you will not soon forget.
