Kelly Wearstler of KWID has created a captivating British Regency style décor combined with a hint of English colonial accent at The Viceroy Santa Monica
in Santa Monica, California. This flagship Kor Hotel hits your senses with a very bold colour palette consisting of parrot green, driftwood grey, and wavecrest white. She has used modern materials such as Lucite as her accents. Wearstler’s distinctive modern colonial motif extends to her elegant poolside cabanas as well. Draped in rugged sailcloth, their airy tent design gives the guests a sense of privacy and wraps their table in elegance. The outdoor poolside dining experience
showcases beautiful linens, tableware, and dramatic candelabras to create a
spectacular atmosphere as the sun descends below Los Angeles.

Each of the hotel’s 163 guestrooms and suites are appointed with applied moldings,
custom armoires, clean-lined bed frames, and immaculate marble-tiled bathrooms. The executive suites with full ocean views feature one-of-a-kind furnishings, coffered ceilings, and whirlpool tubs with steam showers.

My visit to this hotel was in early December and the evening was full of young, shiny people enjoying entertainment by the pool. The atmosphere was lively and energetic and the sea of black suits and dresses looked perfectly scripted to match this hotel’s luminescent décor.

The hotel’s restaurant, Whist, has added a “chef’s cabana” for a customised sevencourse tasting menu for reserved guests to enjoy private dining with full attention by Chef Warren Schwartz and his staff. Indoor and outdoor diners will be very pleased with Whist’s extensive wine list.

Corporate group events are welcomed at the Santa Monica Viceroy. They have an extensive selection of creative team-building exercises in beautiful reception spaces for lectures and dining for different group sizes.
